PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Lairon Academy Families,
My name is Tina Ybarra and I am honored to be the new principal of Lairon College Preparatory Academy. I am dedicated to serving this community and creating long lasting relationships with all stakeholders. One of my goals is to carry out our school’s vision in working as a community to elevate opportunities for all. I pride ourselves in having relationships with staff, with students, and with the families of our students. I bring many years of diverse experience in education, and look forward to working with the Lairon community.
I am starting my 27th year in education with seven of those years having been serving as a school administrator. I have worked with students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade and all of my years as an educator have been spent working in Franklin McKinley School District schools, most recently as principal of Los Arboles. I have a relationship with many of the Lairon students because many attended Los Arboles when they were younger. I am confident that with my experience, our teachers’ dedication, and your support, we can continue to help build a safe and positive school culture here at Lairon.
I want to ensure all students are safe and can focus on their academic growth, while also learning about themselves and their social-emotional well-being. I have a lens that all students can learn, and we will be supportive of their needs. Lairon Academy will continue to be committed to Restorative Justice strategies, inclusive education, and preparing students to be successful in high school and beyond.
We take parent support, voice, and engagement seriously and we value your involvement here at our school. There are many great opportunities for parents/guardians engagement throughout the entire school year, and we will most definitely be asking for your support. Some examples of engagement opportunities will be our monthly Coffee with the Principal meetings, our English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC), our School Site Council, school/cultural events, and chaperones for field trips. We look forward to supporting you and your students' needs, please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Respectfully,
Tina Ybarra
Principal
