Dear Parents, Students, and Community members.
We have had a very busy, but very rewarding school year. We have just promoted our second 8th grade class at Lairon. Our students were very excited about continuing their education and many are attending summer programs that will serve to further prepare them for a smooth and successful high school experience.
As you may have heard, we provide a different type of experience for our children at Lairon. We want students to have positive experiences that will lead them to become strong scholars, who believe in themselves and can think about viable futures, work collaboratively, and continue to be creative human beings, who never give up on their dreams and goals. All of our teachers are involved with all students in one way or another. Our children have an opportunity to work with various teachers and many classmates in their Project Based Learning classes as well as PE. Our students have an opportunity to participate in competition sports such as Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Track and Field, etc.. This year, we won the Basketball championship against 5 other schools. I hope you can attend some of these games and cheer our Bulldogs on to victory.
I want to express my gratitude to all of the parents who helped in one way or another. Somehow, the parents created magic for our students and provided a wonderful atmosphere at our promotion dinner. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, and siblings attended the dinner and had a wonderful time. The students wanted to stay “home” for their celebration, rather than have a more formal venue, and I wanted to thank all of you who made it happen, especially the Student Council.
In the fall, on September 8, 2016, we will have our Back to School Night. I will be sharing our data with you and teachers will be sharing their program. It is a Lairon custom that the students attend with their parents. They will be demonstrating their blended learning as well as their collaboration norms and procedures with you. I hope you can all attend and find out how you can all be part of your child’s education in conjunction with the school.
Please have a safe summer. Don’t forget to keep on reading and remember to keep on following our Bulldog norms- Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful.
