The Tech Challenge

A signature program of the Tech Interactive, The Tech Challenge, is an annual team design competition for students in Grades 4-12 that introduces and reinforces the science and engineering process with a hands-on team project geared to solving a real-world problem.

The Tech Challenge offers a great experience for  classrooms, home schools, after-school programs, and extra-credit projects. The program aligns with Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core, and it reinforces 21st century skills including creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, presentation, risk-taking, perseverance and learning from failure.

Prepare for liftoff! The Tech Challenge 2024: Cosmic Quest took place on April 28-29. Teams were challenged to deliver multiple payloads to different locations. This year Lairon sent 6 teams: The Outer Blues (4th grade), The Spaceship Bulldogs (5th grade), Out of Planet (5th grade), Minions 2.0 (CORAL - 4th & 5th grade), Super Starz (6th grade), and Cosmic Hoppers (7th grade).  Congratulations to all the teams for an amazing performance at the showcase event. A special congratulations to Out of Planet for winning a Judge's Choice Award for Modularity!
